Logo for “La Gumera”

La Gumera, a company providing organic farming and artistic iron works. “Gumera” is a dialectal term used to identify a specific part of the plow. One of the tasks of a blacksmith in our area, especially at the time of our grandparents, was to “re-hammer the gumere”, for the proper maintenance of the plow. The gumera then becomes an element of conjunction between the work of farmers in the fields and that of the blacksmith in the shops.

Riccardo embodies these two figures and that is why he wanted to give his company this name. The cultivation of ancient grains is his main challenge, while the creation of artistic iron creations is his passion. Millstone for wheat and plow (gumera) for a young company, but deeply rooted in its territory and traditions. From the stylization of these elements comes the logo: an archaic symbol that talks about spontaneity, simplicity and gestures that elevate the “handmade” concept from a simple characteristic of the company’s production to a real lifestyle. Commissioned by La Gumera, Agricultural and Handicraft Company in Ficulle, a town in Umbria near Orvieto.
